The Successful Demon

When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.


A legion of demons despatched to the pig farm and a man set free from the horror of his possession, and Mark's gospel is full of accounts of exorcisms.
So I am left to wonder - just what relevance does this have for us today? Are we to follow him (yes) and imitate him in all he does (yes)? So what are the demonic entities in our experience that need the touch and power of the exorcist applied to them?

It is clear (to me) that demonic entities exist in various forms, but I do not want to address those entities as experienced in the fancy deliverance dancing of Ellel Grange, or those who terrorised Emily Rose or the totally weird and comical cosmic battles of Carmen.

For there is a powerful enemy, stealthily prevailing through the church and through our communities that is a formidable demonic force. This foe of man has power that holds sway over nearly every church, every disciple, every pastor, every bible college and most, if not all, ministries. This demonic spirit leads myriads of captives into bondage, religious and non-religious walk hand in hand, shackled together in a great ever growing chain gang of slavery to this wicked and brutal taskmaster.

Through halls of residence, halls of power and church halls alike this subjugator stands defiantly above his subjects, a hideous spiteful and hate filled idol god that desires the attention of all his blind and naked adherents. It stands spitting its polluted doctrine, mocking and sneering at true humanity, its name clearly branded into its forehead, for all to see, for all to bow down and worship, and his name is...[to continue reading click here]
